specVSERious' Xbox - Mar 6 2012

specVSERious likes to game, I like to game, this is a match made in heaven! It takes a gamer score like 97,305 to be as cool as him. He played Mass Effect 2, and then it felt like he threw my controller and I was like, TAKE IT EASY SHEESH and we stopped. In the now-you-know department, I really thought that gaming 60 days in a row would hurt... but it actually felt good... it felt warm... like butter straight out of the microwave. | permalink

    FryHole Quick Hits:

Happy Mass Effect 3 day!! Went to GameStop last night and was the 1st to get mine. I also won one of the little flag/banner things too. I did reserve me AC3 copy for that sexy steelbook (Damn you Joshnorm!!) By the time I got home, installed the 1st disc, downloaded all the preorder bonuses, DLC, and stuff, I played for 20 mins and got tired.

I was able to finally finish off Fable 3 this weekend, thanks to Lawl Pwned. I may or may not have all the weapons and clothes now. I also was able to finish off Fruit Ninja Kinect. So pretty good weekend for me.

Not much planned for today, Mass Effect 3 and Cars 2 (so I can return it back to GameStop). Especially after spending half my day at the DMV, yuck!

You guys enjoy your Mass Effect 3 and as Commander Shepard would say "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite blog in the galaxy!"

Did you all know that Mass Effect 3 isn't a steelbook? Its actually a brand called Metal Pack. I don't like non-steelbook metal cases. So much that I will be selling it and going to get the regular edition. Yeah EA can suck me why do 2 steelbooks then go cheap as shit and then go with the awfully less superior metal pack? WHY? They did this with Dragon Age too. From Biowares website you got the HARD to find steelbook brand steelbook. From everywhere else yeah you got the POS Metal Pack (I don't like Hinges on my cases).

Anyway, I will be returning that and then going to go play my SFxTekken. Which I sprung for the awesome LImited edition (for the Gems only honestly).

We closed on the house. Easy experience. We had to put money down to save our house (it was $500). After everything was said and done we will be getting refunded $464 back. So we bought a house out of pocket for $36. Pretty happy to start the move process. I am packing up my boxes for my video games and books and then making a trip tonight/tomorrow morning to drop them off. We are doing that several times until next Wed where we are getting a uHaul and getting our big stuff. We will see how that goes. Cable and Internet comes Monday and our bedroom stuff comes Saturday. So we are progressing.

    Yay.

I love my Windows Phone. Besides playing games and earning achievements on it (which is awesome) it's got all the bells and whistles I could ever need. It's my first real "smart" phone, and I couldn't be happier. I have had one mildly annoying problem with it though. The marketplace tile always has a number in it, as if there's items to update. When I go into it though, there are no updates to get. I've also been unable to get the updates for games like Bug Village and TextTwist 2, among others. I can find them in the marketplace, and see that an update is there, but when I try to download it, nothing happens.

Wasn't too worried about this, as I hated the 5 minutes I spent in Bug Village, and there's workarounds for TextTwist. Pursuing the Samsung help site today, I noticed the generic response to fix most basic problems was to force a soft reset by removing the battery. Go figure, a windows OS where the first solution is to try restarting. They should have included Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys in awkward places on the phone.

With nothing to lose, I pull the battery, admire it's rectangleness, and put it back in, restart the phone and check the marketplace tile. There's still 9 supposed updates, but this time, when I go into it, I can actually download them. Not only that, but they are downloading and installing, instead of just doing nothing! Fire up TextTwist, and I can once again play the daily word. A bunch of demos I've got on there were updated too, but it seems like I found a way to fix this problem. Yay me! Hope that info might help someone else out sometime.

In other news, came home to a box on the porch, containing a Kinect and a bunch of games. Found a good price online that I couldn't pass up any longer. Now I have to rearrange the living room this weekend and pick up and install a mount to put it on. Going to be a bit tough, since they don't really make mounts to fit a 70" TV. I think I saw one that might work, and if not I'll just take it back.
