Well, it is over. The Gamerscore Challenge formerly known as ohjay's 3rd annual birthday extravaganza ended with General Tynstar on top after a total gain of 10,517 points in 30 days!
All 11 participants combined on the final day, they put up a total gain of 2640 points. General Tynstar added 1,010, Aldogg33 added 610, NekroRocker added 600, ohjay08 added 220, WolfWood37 added 165, AxGryndr added 30, and crymepayz added 5. A special congrats and thanks to the 10 other competitors.

A guy claiming to be an xbox employee is claiming that the family share plan was really just a 15-45 minute timed "demo." You have access to the entire game, but, only for a VERY limited time. If that's true, people are SO upset over NOTHING!!
DJP, look at their reasons, they want to have people buy games then use these to get achievements only. Here and on TA they are butthurt, meanwhile most people I talk to are glad this move was made, but it was too late since the damage was done.
I'm amazed at the number of people coming out of the woodwork now, claiming that THIS is now the worst decision ever. Boggles my mind.
I'm really happy to see that Microsoft listened to gamers and made the right decision before it was to late. I will probably stick with Xbox now, still not sure if I'll be pre-ordering one though.

Last year, I bought a Roku to stream Netflix on the bedroom tv. The Roku interface for Netflix (and everything else) is about a thousand times better than either the xbox or playstation interfaces. I can't remember the last time I used either console for Netflix.
The butthurt in the forums and on TA in my friend's feed is so epic.
And yes I know PS+ is 50, but it isn't required except for MP on the new system so even without PS+ I can use Netflix

There is still forced Kinect. If they lopped 100 off the price and a non Kinect version maybe they are in the ballpark. But right now this smells. Mattrick was so smug last week with his "If you don't have internet get a 360" attitude.
Furthermore its still 60 bucks a year for online (even though there are always sales) and tons of features are firewalled to be gold, including Netflix a pay service, which even without PS+ you will be able to use on PS4 Plus PS+ free games compared to the freebies we are getting from MS for the nest few months, Halo 3 and AC 2? Meanwhile PS+ this month got X Com and next month or August is getting DMC.
This move makes me now know I will eventually be able to get a XB1, maybe after a few drops or when Halo comes out, but I still am weary of MS and I feel they need to be punished for even thinking these practices are good ideas. I am not switching my preorder over, but at least now I think we might have a a legit battle now, which is good for the consumer.
I'm debating changing my pre-order. Or pre-ordering both and deciding which one to cancel before release. The XB180 still costs $100 more and has mandatory Kinect.
So now it looks like I might get an xbox1 sooner than expected.

With the shortages it will take a while for a drop. Polling most of the gamestops me and my co workers shop at, they have 10-20 XB 1 preorders and are locked up, meanwhile are having 30-50 PS4, and still able to take them. Of course the more the casual gamers find out about the used game policies the worst is becomes. Of course if it was Kinect integrated they could sell Kinect separate like PS is doing with the PS eye and drop the 100 off the price.
I'm waiting till after a price drop. Which I can imagine would be soon after release considering the cluster F that they threw at E3.
I was going to preorder the X1 but recently I have had a lot of bills so my extra cash is gone. Will need to pinch a lot of pennies if I still want to get it - or sell something. Darn already missing a kidney maybe there is another body part I can do without. Ah maybe an arm and a leg.
The rules are too complicated for me to take seriously, but I entered just for the sake of participating.
The drama seems to come from one team trying to go out in a blaze of glory, got a ton of completions the first week so they could throw "bricks" at other teams and take them out too. But someone used a made-up fake team name when he "threw" the bricks. Totally obvious who he really meant, but one guy from the receiving team threw a giant hissy fit. That's what I got out of it. Someone correct me if I over-simplified that.
What happened?
I looked into that challenge. I started to read the rules and said wow this is way too much work, I just want to score points. I am also not surprised there is drama.
Damn that escalated quickly.
In other news, this is the first and last time I enter any competition that involves "bricks." I have no intention of trying win anyway, but WAY too much drama and crying over in the forums today.

Same here. Haven't really been doing much the last few months. Just playing all the games I actually have wanted to play over the last few years but never got to because of competitions and such...Saints 3, Tropico 4, Omerta, and Dead Island to name a few. Just traded in about 350 games to Gamestop and reserved 7-8 new games...Saints 4, GTA 5, Madden, NCAA Football, NHL, Watch Dogs, and Payday 2. I still have about $400 more store credit so probably going to pre-order a PS4. M$ has really soured me over the last month or so. Definitely disappointed.
He could run away easily too. Kind of weird gaming mood right now, with me abandoning Microsoft in a few months I am going to mostly attempt to play games I want to play.

I went Amazon only because by the time I got out of work I feared Gamestop would be sold out or worse I would be at the bottom of the list and be waiting for the second or third batch. Gives me options at least plus they don't charge me until they ship so its 100 bucks in my pocket instead of GS
I preordered at Gamestop, because I had more than enough store credit to cover the $100 deposit, and I prefer to pick up something like that same-day at a B&M store rather than risk not getting a shipment delivered.
And seeing how MS has crapped their pants about 50 ways the last three weeks 10 family members=10 X Box Live gold members on a console, deals with the online pass issue EA had with multiple users on one console.
DJ, did you preorder through Amazon, I just checked I got the launch version, which means release day its all mine. I will miss you guys who stay on the DRM Box :(
When something sounds too good to be true... it usually is!
I've been in that camp for over a year now. As you can tell by how little I've scored since the STEI. I don't mind getting achievements in games I like but I have a hard time buying games just for achievements anymore.
Monopoly Streets was a recent exception. ;-)
If the xbox 1 family thing is truly like it sounds,it may be worth buying just for that. Sharing games with my friends were we all don't have to buy the same game? That sounds to good to be true.
I also ordered a PS4. Might EVENTUALLY get an Xbone, but not until after a price drop. I'm sure there will be a new Gears game by then. But it's not like I'll be abandoning my 360 anytime soon.
Yeah but honestly I was already getting sick of scoring and going through bad games. I fgured once I hit 300 K I would go back to JRPGs and games I enjoy more than thinking about scoring and streaks and finding the worst possible games for points.

I reserved a PS4 from Amazon this morning. Don't know if I will keep it or cancel and wait a year. I do think after this challenge my point scoring and streaks will be slowing down if not stopping.
No thanks. I'm sticking with the 360 for a while longer. Eventually I can see MS dropping the online check in before you can play games along with the whole used games fiasco.
After the PS presser last night and the reaction they got MS has to be re-thinking that strategy.
And it is all over! Back to the playstation for me. Sony learned from their mistakes last generation.
I have to admit, Sony just sold alot of people on the PS4. MS has some thinking to do.

Wow. $100 cheaper, and no restriction on sharing/renting/trading games. I hate to admit it, but we have a clear winner.

I waited for the first price drop before I bought my 360. I think I will do the same for the XB1.
They'd sell a LOT more probably at $399.
That price point doesn't surprise me at all.
500 bucks for the new X Box, another nail in the coffin.
I may only end up buying a Wii U at this rate.
Like I said wait and see. If it holds true it just saves me money on new games since I wont get a new gen system. Back to collecting old games again.
If what I read is correct, rentals are impossible, and "sharing" is only allowed amongst long-time XBL friends. And used games are only allowed at the publisher's discretion. Good luck with that.
All the used game talk on the Xbox One just makes me think wait and see what really happens. I think they say some stuff just to see the reaction.
Truth be told I haven't even played any of General's games yet.
Don't worry next year at this time there might not be any borrowing of games lol.

Of course you will be able to borrow games for Xbox 1.
You just won't wont be able to play it anymore and you friend will have to pay for a code in order to access it which will be comparable to the cost of a new game. So I've heard.
Looking forward to E3 to see if they will be more specific about it or just show the games coming out for it.
