So for contests/challenges...If i haven't played Avatar yet, am I allowed to play it or will it be considered cheap/cheating?

You know, honestly, I was too distracted by your gigantic sig that I didn't even see what this topic is about. Please make it smaller, it'll slow down people's computers and makes us have to scroll down even more to get to the next post!

See New Signature Policy.
Ah..and I just noticed Wink beat me to it.

Anyways, I think Avatar is totally fair in a challenge unless the creator states that it isn't.

While Avatar is fair, you need to make your sig a lot smaller. Andy has a sig about the right size, with your multiple large images your sig is way over the limit on this site.

Thanks,
Wink

I think it was more of a big deal when the challenges had prizes. I don't think people get as angry when they're just losing out on bragging rights. If the rules say not to, try to avoid using it tho.

What they said... I used Avatar in a challenge... others don't... be prepared to take flack from at least one person... then take a minute to let them know you weren't doing it to them personally and move on. :)

dirty!!! lol I still have not used it!!! But I think everyone knows of the threat. If the rules don't say it then play it!!!`

As stated before, it is a great game in a "pinch." Make sure you check the rules of the challenge. If their is nothing stating that Avatar can't be played, then use it if you need a quick 1k FTW. Cheap and dirty!!

I will tell you, Avatar makes you feel dirty.

There is no other game like it. Back during the prize challenges, we had one that was mostly friends, and everyone in the challenge who didn't have Avatar all played it off the same copy. It kind of negated the efect of it.

I personally don't so any easy games in challenges, takes the fun out it.

If the challenge creator didn't specifically mention not using Avatar, you should be fine. Everyone's gotta do it once. Some people (with higher morals probably!) drop it when not in a challenge, others do it right at the end. Me, I can't remember but I probably was in one...and still didn't win!

Either way, everyone knows that it's possible (that's why the 'Played Avatar' info is on the challenge sign-up screen) and if you do drop it in the challenge, just be prepared for abuse...but it wouldn't be cheating and if I personally was in the challenge, I wouldn't complain. Unless said before the start, all games are fair play as long as they're played legit IMO!

Avatar is awesome, and should be played twice to really enjoy it. :)

By twice, I mean once on my profile for 5 mins, and then on my wife's for another 5.

Then take it to the office and pass it around like 10 people. Then bring it back to Blockbuster/Hollywood/Gamefly....
MrXpress Posted - Jun 29 2008 : 12:01:47 AM
Yeah, whether it's allowed seems to be something variable amongst challenges, some yay, some nay. I'm pretty confident that it's universally regarded as cheap, though.

it depends on the people in your challenge, some may have ground rules before you play... never hurts to ask
