Posted - Jun 03 2009 : 12:29:35 PM E3 press conferences
I’m writing for anyone who missed any of the three conferences so here are some of the big announcements.
Microsoft
Some great games announced from as well as Project Natal.
Left 4 Dead 2
This is looking great, with some new weapons including a Chainsaw.
Modern Warfare 2
This first person shooter from infinity ward is one of the most highly anticipated titles of E3, and it looks amazing from scaling an icy mountain to driving down a slope in a snow mobile while shooting at enemies.
Crackdown 2
A sequel to real time studios Crackdown, Ruffian games brings us Crackdown 2.
Forza Motersport 3
Forza is back and better than ever with 400 cars to choose from that and the new video editing mode.
Halo 3: ODST
You will play as the rookie separated from his team, you will find clues to the fate of other ODSTs and then go back in time to play as the other ODST.
Halo: Reach At the minute we know very little about this game just that it will be released late 2010 and that there will be a multilayer beta code sold with Halo 3: ODST.
Joyride This a racing game to play with your avatar create new vehicle and race online with other avatars but that’s not the best news Joyride will be free to gold members.
Project Natal Project Natal is motion sensing camera with voice recognition opening a lot of new possibilities for the future of gaming.
Sony
Sony made a lot of announcements in their press conference including the new PSP GO as well as promising to bring 90 exclusives titles to PlayStation 3 and PSP.
MAG (PS3)
This is looking like a great FPS with 256 players online it looks set to become an online favorite for everyone.
Gran Turismo (PSP)
Bringing the Gran Turismo experience to PSP for the first time, seems to have everything you would expect from a Gran Turismo game Fast cars and stunning graphics.
Metal Gear solid Peace walker (PS3)
They haven’t reveled too much about the storyline other than the fact that it’s set in the 1970s and is set to be released some time in 2010.
Final Fantasy XIV (PS3)
We saw a short teaser trailer for the upcoming PS3 exclusive from Square enix.
Mod Nation racers (PS3)
This looks like one of the best games they have announced this year is this game you create drivers, create cars and create race tracks then share and play them with the world online.
And here are a few other games worth mentioning
Agent (PS3)
Assassins Creed 2 (PS3)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
Little Big Planet (PSP)
The last Guardian (PS3)
Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)
Nintendo
I’ve just finished watching the Nintendo press conference here are some of the new titles announced form Nintendo.
Super Mario bros. Wii (Wii)
Super Mario bros. Wii looks great this title will be loved by fans of the original game for NES, it plays from a 2d point of view but what separates this from the original is the co-op play with up to 4 player competitive co-op this looks like a fun and competitive game to be enjoyed by all ages.
Wii fit plus (Wii)
This is an improved version of the original game, it won’t just keep track of how much weight you’ve lost but also how many calories you’ve burned as well as added 15 new challenges.
Wii sports Resort (Wii)
You will begin the game by parachuting out of a airplane even though jumping out of a perfectly good aircraft just isn’t natural, just two of the mini games were mentioned they are archery and basketball. (This game uses the new Wii motion plus accessory)
Women's Murder club: Games of passion (DS)
A game from author James Patterson who has 40 New York best sellers.
Some other games worth mentioning are

Posted - Jun 15 2010 : 7:08:02 PM I am of the opinion Nintendo owned the show. Kid Icarus, Metroid, Zelda, DKC, and Kirby all looked awesome. Add the 3DS and that was one hell of a showing. Especially when compared to that vitality sensor crap last year. |

Sony was meh to me but I want some of the 3rd party titles. -PS3 +SEGA
Really!? I think it went the other way:
Sony: Okay so you have long brewing awesome titles due out this year, your motion control doo-hicky looks like it requires less commitment, and works just as well as Natal, and you somehow kidnapped all of gabe newell's family in an effort to blackmail him into issuing "the best version of portal 2" for ps3... well done sony. (YOU.STILL.SUCK!!!)
M$: total snorefest, the only cool bit of news being the redesign
Nintendo: OH.GAWD.WHO.THE.EFF.CARES.ABOUT.NINTENDO.DS'S.ANYMORE!?!? |

I think a little logic should be applied before anyone gets into a panic.
The fear is the developers will go the way of Wii and all it's shovelware to go along with it... or that the games we like to sit on our lazy butts and play will *require* this Natal garbage... and unfortunately, as noted by Cormyre, that is a fear grounded in reality. |

Posted - Jun 16 2009 : 08:27:20 AM Red Steel II a game that makes you buy a new attachment for your controller... wonder if that'll drain the batteries quicker... blah, Wii can kick rocks (and yes I have one thats collecting dust =P) |

I don't think they will completely remove the controller, but i do think there will be games that only use Natal and some that require you to use both.

@markd12 - you forgot to mention Red Steel II for the Wii, i think it looks awesome and i am actually going to grab it for the fun factor.
Thanks, I just added red steel to Nintendo. |

I like certain aspects of it, but you know its never going to work as well as the promo video =P besides if I wanted to not be lazy, I'd get up and go outside... or play the Wii... but thats the exact mentality they're going after here, why have people move to another system if they want to play a game that has more interaction, we'll just roll it up into our own system. But anyway if its not its own system or it comes out for the 360 it has a high chance of failure IMO (even if it is the next gen or its own thing there's a medium chance of failure just to it being completely new), but who knows, if people give up on the Wii in droves to come to the system with better graphics it may (unfortunately) be a hit. I do like the walk up and it recognizes you and signs you in part... not at all the video chat... gah "oh look, there's cormyre in a sweater... and no pants... er.. thats not a sweater... ewwwwwwww" mwahaha
Well, I see no reason to wear pants when playing, so beware before you except a game invite from me in Natal (I do wear boxers, but no buttons or snaps on the fly!!!) |

Posted - Jun 14 2009 : 2:03:44 PM I don't know. The general opinion I'm seeing about Project Natal is that people dislike it. I guess out of fear that developers will start force feeding us games with motion controls and abandon use of a controller. I say let's just see what happens before anyone bashes it. |

Posted - Jun 14 2009 : 1:10:28 PM Im suprised no one has mentioned anything else about Project Natal? Honestly if I could get it right this moment I just might send a blank signed check to microsoft this instant. |

Posted - Jun 03 2009 : 2:29:44 PM My opinion?
Microsoft = Win, could have been epic but lost all touch with reality on Natal... Getting MGS was a serious hit on Sony though
Nintendo = Par
Sony = Glitzy, Glamorous way to an epic FAIL
Ubisoft = the new replacement for Sominex - the cure for Insomnia |
