Posted - Jan 12 2011 : 1:28:08 PM MGC jumped out to early prominence this generation with a database of over 3 million gamers and lots of great stats and leaderboards. Unfortunately it was kept to basically a 1-man show and the creator, Morgon, looks to have abandoned ship in November.
New games are not listed. DLC no longer updates (my Trials HD reads 300/250). Cheaters have not been cleared from the leaderboards.
I hope a turnaround can happen. |

Posted - Jan 14 2011 : 09:48:08 AM Wow, I didn't know it had any stat tracking, I guess I signed up with 3v and it was pretty much all I needed until I came across the checklists for achievements at x360a and then later TA, so I guess I'm one of the ones guilty of only using it for the sig images |

Fshguy you are right. I bet < 1% of the people on that site had any idea they were scanning their tags for achievements and data. 99%+ of those players signed up there so they could create "active" sigs for forums on websites.
They have a Microsoft Community Developer so they are getting hooks into the actual data right? So they are not scanning (scraping) xbox.com for the data like the rest of us?
We are a Community Developer as well, the only scraping we do for data is regarding the streak saver to catch things the data feed missed the first time around. At this point, our hooks are actually deeper in the data feed then those of MyGamerCard.
I think I'd go insane with over 3 million registered users. |

Of course, it would take us most of the day to scan 3 million users! A lot of those probably never signed up for scanning is my best guess.
Morgon was the guy I talked to about the cheater thing. I assume he would at least know who else you should talk to. |

Posted - Jan 13 2011 : 12:06:54 PM I used to use it more... - I liked the ability to quickly go down my list of games and see which had the red downward arrow, meaning my score was below average. - When I completed a game I liked being able to see how many others had also completed it. - I also have been keeping an eye on the XBLA leaderboard since Lausdomini mentioned it awhile back.
Now I use TA for most stats, but as mentioned, MGC has a much larger sample size...
for example: Geometry Wars - 24,500 gamers played it on TA vs 565,000 on MGC Peggle - 22,800 on TA vs 115,000 on MGC |

Other than the size of their database, what else do people like about MGC? Anybody look up their historical traffic stats?
1) I like that I can look up to see what people are playing (that day) without having to sign in to xbox.com.
2) I like that I can immediately see the number of people who have more/same/less gamerscore in a game than myself as well as the average gamerscore earned for the game and the amount of users that have played the game, and that I can see all games on one page.
3) I like sorting my card by effort and trying to beat the average in every game.
4) I like sorting cards by alphabetic order to quickly see what games people have and haven't played
5) I like the XBLA leaderboard and the completion leaderboard.
6) I like that I could send xbox live messages from the user's page.
Once I memorized "profile.mygamercard.net/" as well as "a" for alphabetic and "e" for effort then I could quickly check things like a list of (almost) every game: profile.mygamercard.net/a/mightymango or a sorted list of the games Elem3ntal80 should work on as he pushes his completion percentage higher: profile.mygamercard.net/e/elem3ntal80 |

Posted - Jan 13 2011 : 09:31:27 AM The only thing I really liked about the site was the ability to see how my scores stacked up to the average scores for a game.
But since they declared me a cheater I haven't been able to see that info anymore and I couldn't care less if the site exists or not. |

Heeeeyyyyyyyyyyy.....
I see what you did there.
I guess I was the only person that never cared for MGC. I went once or twice, I was registered, but I just didn't care for it.
Plus, I like the witch burners to have less torches. |
