So, I've been working on Penny Arcade Episode 1 lately. Well, yesterday I finished off the story: All enemies killed, no one died, beat the boss without using a healing item.
....and no Pack Rat, the achievement for finding all collectibles. Wait, what?
I had unlocked the bonus comic for finding all the pieces of concept art! Why didn't it unlock? Oh. Right.
I forgot the achievement included finding all the hidden music albums. Opps. There's no way to go back, since I had only one save, like a moron.
Now I get to play the whole game again, because I didn't go back and grab the one missing music album I needed since I didn't think it was required.
You may now ridicule me. |

Missing a collectable isn't exactly a fail. A fail is trying for 45 minutes to unlock an achievement that won't unlock, being ready to report a glitch because it just won't unlock and then finding out that you unlocked the achievement 9 months prior. |

My 3 biggest fails:
Back when I was going for the 750k achievement on GH3 after trying for 2-3 hours I missed the target by less than 100 points.
When I was getting the easy 1550g on Fallout 3 PC I spelled "achievement" wrong.
When going for Vidmaster: annual on Halo 3, after doing terribly in the main part of the mission for an hour and a half, we were just about to finish... one of my friends flipped their ghost milliseconds before someone went over the jump to trigger the end of the level. So it didn't count. |

I started the game Star Raiders on Saturday. There's an achievement for getting a kill using each of the 3 modes in every one of the story missions. Near the very end of the game I got to the end of a mission and noticed that I had 0 kills with one of the modes even though I made sure to use all of them. NOOOOOOO!!!
I quickly exited to the dashboard, but unfortunately the game had already saved. Yesterday I had to go back and replay the whole game to get it. I beat the game much faster even though I went to the dashboard a few times to copy my saved game to a USB stick. |

A recent one for me was Dead Rising going for Zombie Genocidest, I was up to about 30,000 and I had just used my last weapon and Orange Juice so I try going back to the main part of the mall to stock up and save. My car only make it half way across the field and then the Psychos run me over repeatedly setting me back to 0 kills. |

That's incredibly odd.
I didn't play the entire game that way, just when I was working on that specific achievement.
I did play through all of the Superman Returns story mode without saving, and through 80% of King Kong without saving...
Oh, young pup, not old enough to remember the days when there were no saves. Or the era when you saved every 10 minutes cause there were no checkpoints... |

I also have manual saving issues, but I won't get into that today...

Well at least you ended up doing better than I did on that game. I was attempting to do the boss with no items and no one dying but did not. I figured I would just reload my save after the cinematic.... but NOPE there is an f#%#$^& autosave afterwards....
So at least what you have to do is much easier than playing and beating every enemy again. |
