I just beat the game today. I absolutely loved the ending (good one). This is now one of the best games i've ever played. I loved playing this game and i'm gunna have to go through and get all the achievements and find all the stuff. Also its a good thing I got alot of the audio diarys or else i might have been a little confused. |

Posted - Sep 07 2007 : 9:29:20 PM *Spoiler Alert*
Lol i have that problem too with the elevator code too. I got so annoyed going all over the place while "you know who" is reducing your health. I had to resist the urge not to through the controller at the screen lol. But I am so in love with this game I will forget about it by tommorow. That twist was great and made perfect sense with the game. Also makes you wonder if Fontaine actually had a family in the sub. Could of been weapons, goons of his, ect. It was so good with all the action when you learned the truth and how the little girl comes to save you. I can't wait to finish this game and see what happens. |

Posted - Sep 07 2007 : 2:05:34 PM The odd part is I circled the 3rd floor many times and I eventually got bored and made myself a little fortress of electric tripbolts by the sandbag area. Not next to the stairs but all the way around the floor by the bathroom. I don't know how I missed it because I asked someone else and they said that it was incredibly obvious too. I'm gonna have to rent it again and get close to the rest of the achievments. Some games achievments are too easy, some too hard. This game is ok. A little easy but some are challenging. |

Posted - Sep 05 2007 : 2:26:45 PM this game is graphically amazing but i'm kinda getting tired of the limited vision in FPS i prefer 3 person now the only game i would give close to a 10 is gears, i mean this game has been out since november and when i play the multiplayer i still experience new o sh*t moments, good ones, no other game does that, not crackdown, shadowrun, Halo nothing, well maybe in halo but Halo's not all that great. |

Posted - Sep 03 2007 : 12:20:38 PM the game is lacking in making me want to play it twice, the storyline was pretty awesome. the variety of weapons was small but the upgrading combined with different types of ammo fixed it a little but a pistol is a pistol regardless of weather the bullets explode on impact or electricute someone, i want an insane amount of weapons like EDF but thats probably too much to ask for. id give it a solid 8/10. a really good game ive played better and i'm not going to play it over and over, not like cod2 or vegas or GoW. one last thing when i first played the demo with my friend at the begining crash sequence i was completely amazed at the water and lighting effects of the fire on the water. i said to him "man this is the coolest cutscene ever." then he pointed at my controller and thats when i realized it wasn't a cutscene it was actual in game graphics. |

Posted - Sep 03 2007 : 10:04:49 AM The diary is sitting on top of some box over on the 3rd floor...there are a couple of cameras set up around it with some film on the ground and whatnot. It's incredibly easy to find, you just need to circle the 3rd floor, don't go inside any of the doors on the 3rd floor, just walk around by the railing and you'll find it. |

Posted - Sep 03 2007 : 09:31:42 AM After taking about 6 and a half minutes to read all typed so far, I agree that for a game to get a 10/10 it needs to be NEAR perfect in every aspect (Single player, multiplayer, graphics, story, all that). I believe that if it was required to rate a game on all of these then this game would ONLY get a NINE because of the fact that it has no multiplayer AT ALL. Even though I was freaked out of my mind (mostly because I thought I would have to go hand to hand with a Spider Splicer) I still thought that the plane crash was awesome and the beginning of Bioshock was definitly one of the best I've ever seen. The first time I played Bioshock I was like, "Eh, ok." I told someone this and they said, "EH, OK?!?!?!???!!" I replied with, I only just finished the first level and they said, "No wonder." Now I think I'm halfway through the game and now I think the only thing that will ever be better then this game (IN MY MIND cause I'm a Halo freak) will be Halo 3.
DO NOT READ THIS IF U HAVE NOT "Met" ANDREW RYAN YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't find the paparazize diary on the 3rd floor of the Mercury Suites apartments yet and I have to return Bioshock today (rented it). WHERE IS THE FLIPPIN ELEVATOR CODE?!?!?!?!!? |

Posted - Sep 02 2007 : 11:31:23 PM Think the game that truly deserves a 9.9/10 (basically a 10/11) is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. The graphics for it on the Original Xbox looks like the grahpics of a 360 game. The gameplay was amazing, the story was one of the best, and the multiplayer was a ton of fun to play on. The AI was amazing as well and it made you feel like you were actually in the game and playing as Sam Fisher.
I still play the game from time to time and I still enjoy it.
I will give Bioshock an 9.7/10. The singleplayer was amazing, the story was top-notch (not one of the best that I've played), AI was really challenging, you had to use your head to kill the enemies. But I think it would have been cool to go online and kill some people with the plasmids. Set traps for people, set them on fire, hack med stations, all that stuff. It would've been awesome to play online. |

Posted - Sep 02 2007 : 6:25:18 PM Well obviously, to the reviewers, a 10 is a perfect score, since it's the highest (some websites have an 11, which is "the unicorn", but thats besides the point). They're giving the wrong impression when they give a 10/10. I believe the perfect game should be PERFECT in every aspect, including singleplayer, multiplayer, graphics, gameplay, addictiveness, and so on. However, for things like the graphics in games, they change so often that the perfect game will never be considered so for very long. Another game will come along and beat it. I believe that's what's happened to Gears of War, the majority of the gaming world thought that Gears was awesome in every aspect, and it was. But Halo 3's coming along and we'll see if it meets our expectations or blows them out of the water. A decade or two from now a game (or several) will release that WILL be better than Gears and/or Halo. I guarantee it. |

Posted - Sep 02 2007 : 3:06:17 PM 10/10 doesn't mean perfect. Everyone knows that perfection can never be achieved. 10/10 just means that it has made (and even surpassed) the highest standards set for video games. I wouldn't give this particular game a 10. Everything it sets out to do, it does perfectly, but it brings very few new things to the genre, which is a must for any 10/10. |

I reluctantly agree with you. In my nearly 20 years of gaming I have yet to play a game that was 100% perfect (10 out of 10). But I guess that also depends on how you define your scale. If you are just saying it is a 100% awesome game, then yeah, it is a 10 out of 10. You will also never been able to have a universally 100% perfect game because no one will ever like exactly the same thing. One of the things I've heard some say they don't like about BioShock is lack of multiplayer (far fewer are criticizing for this than I would have though actually), but to me, that is a plus.
Personally, on a perfection scale this game is somewhere between a 9 and a 10. On a scale of awesome, it IS a 10 out of 10. |
