Whats the chances of people making mass email accounts and signing up and voting for their community pics... say each person on 360voice makes 5 email acounts and votes.. thats alot of points added.
Not saying we should do this.. But i find it a little odd that last time i checked Hawty Mcbloggy group were in the lead with about 4 spots.
I check today and suddenly the top SEVEN! spots are suddenly taked over by the 10k Group.
And honestly some of them arnt that good the Grunge Vector Shapes bu Hawty group is probably on of the best on there.
Just wondering if they have a way of checking for mass votes. |

Not sure, I know I used my email account to vote, as well as my wife's account, and asked others to go vote, but I see what you are saying. Every single one of theirs has around the same number of votes, almost impossible, unless every single member goes and votes on all of their themes. I hope that the contest moderators have a way of making it fair, otherwise, I'll just sign up for 50 accounts and vote "Great" for everyone that is done by 360voice.com members. |

Well I do so hope that they check the ISP for everyone. I think thats a way to see if someone is voting more than once. As stated in the rules: "Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or the like methods of participation will void all such submissions by such methods. Sponsor reserves the right to freeze or close an account or to prohibit the participation of an individual/account holder if fraud or tampering is suspected or if the account holder fails to comply with any requirement of participation as stated herein or with any provision in these Official Rules." This doesn't protect us against them manually creating them, but does state that other methods will violate the account. I'll be finishing my artwork by Wednesday at the latest so hopefully we'll have something to get 360voice on the map for. (Shame I found out about the contest late this week. I could have finished up some stuff earlier!)
Plus what's with all the people using copy written artwork? I was on a few days ago and I was very surprised at all the Halo pictures (to name something people would be familiar with.)
By the way, to everyone who messaged my XBL account - thank you for your comments! ^^ |

I think you might be able to vote still, too bad you wouldn't be able to win though.
oh, I'll be voting. I'll be voting a loot ;)
edit: I'll just upload stuff. if I happen to win, 360voice will be getting the prizes |

Just wanted post my theme in here. The link to it is in my signature. I really want to win a Nokia N81. It's been so long since I've had a cell phone. We had to get rid of them after a while. I'm affiliated with Hawty McBloggy [it was before I registered on here], but please help me out.
And I noticed thing about The10k.com people having so many votes. It's like all of the top people are from that site alone.
I'll return the favor for everyone who helps me. |

Kinda given up on this competition, Time to go play some Vegas 2.

| I'm thinking about just giving up on the grand prize for this contest. The10k.com has pretty much ruined it for a lot of people because they all have scores of 900-1000, and they keep increasing every hour. I suppose it's just a bit discouraging. |

Ok guys..
Now im not trying to start a huge war about this competition or anything.
But im as dissapointed as everyone else, i think i was one of the first ppl to post a theme to the competition. Sadly like everyone else my entry was lost in the 10K storm.
However they are doing it clearly they are winning.
I wrote a email to the ppl running the competition, heres what they sent back: ---------------------------
Hi there- Thanks for taking the time to write - we truly appreciate your feedback. Completely understand where you are coming from, and we share in your frustrations. It seems that The10k.com is voting on their themes not from a perspective of "is this a cool theme or not" but rather they are simply giving all of their content the highest possible rating regardless of quality. This stinks, but ultimately we can't control how people vote. We've limited voting to one vote per theme per email address, but there's no way we can prevent users from creating multiple email accounts. Even IP filtering can be "hacked" so at the end of the day all we can do is let the voting play out as it may. We will certainly be looking at ways to remedy this in future iterations of the program. Also, please note that we intend to work with more than just the artist who wins this program on getting material published to Xbox LIVE. There has been an overwhelming number of extremely high quality work submitted to date, so we will be updating our site in the next 24-48 hours letting people know that there will be opportunities even if they do not win the voting here. Make sense? Thanks again for the feedback and feel free to reach out if you have any other comments or suggestions. Cheers, DP Staff
------------------------
Well there you go, seems like they too have noticed what we did, seems like they are atleast trying to modify the situation by whatever they mean by "opportunities even if they do not win"
So you guys should still submit ur entries. Hope this helps anyone with questions. |

Hey, I saw your freedom theme in there and I loved that one!
At least they'll be working with more people in the end. That sort of raises my spirits. I'll pass that along to people. |

Hi to everyone at 360voice. My name is borandi, and I'm a member at the10k.com.
I've read what everyone has posted here. I feel disheartened that so many of you are viewing this competition negatively, and feel that we are cheating. Well, to set the record straight, we are not.
If you notice, myself and Rodsmack 10k (an Xbox Live Ambassador) were both one of the first people to upload themes. With a post on our forums and XBL messages, we encouraged other members of our community (estimated at 300-500) to do the same - some of them have. Others have voted.
No-one in our community wants anyone to cheat. By cheat, I mean make X amount of accounts. The competition itself encourages, and I quote:
# First, sign up. # Step 2 Then, create and upload your theme. # Step 3 Vote for it! And get your friends to as well!
As a community, we have encouraged our family and friends to get out there and vote. We ask that they not only vote on our themes, but to check the others out as well. So by the time a few people have emailed or facebooked their friends and family, it's quite easy to see how a hundred or so users sign up and vote in a short space of time.
Now we have had a complaint or two regarding the sheer quantity over quality of what the10k.com have uploaded. I must express that the competition does not require new pieces of art to be submitted, that are designed specifically for the competition - a few of our community (as I'm sure yours is) are budding young artists, with archives of appropriate material. Some material has also been designed for this competition.
However, I do agree with the sentiment that this voting system does make the competition more of a popularity contest - this is ultimately what happens when you give everyone the vote (presidential elections, high school elections, etc). Ideally, as seen in many art competitions (viz. The Turner Prize), all entries are considered by a panel of judges. That way no-one can argue over who the winners were.
I'd also like to express the end date of the competition - 14th April. There are 3 more weeks for voting to take place. If this mass rush of voting at the beginning is all due to 10k members getting friends and family to take part, surely the 'train will run out of steam' quite quick (to coin a phrase).
We respect that some of you may disagree with what the10.com have done. We have been competing in the spirit and according to the rules of the competition, as well as posting artwork to the best of our abilities. Most of us do understand how our work may not be the best out there - not everyone is a photoshop/photograph/rendering genius! But what art our members have produced, we are proud of, and would not have submitted it if we felt it was not appropriate for a dashboard theme.
Everyone should be proud of what they submit. In the end, it's fantastic just to see how many budding artists there are in the Xbox 360 community, and how many of these themes most of us would like to see up on the marketplace.
Yours respectfully,
borandi |

My official opinion is that 10k is not doing anything wrong. It is a competition and the fact of the matter is... it is about voting... don't try and slice/dice the rules or the intentions. They are mobilizing their community and they should be commended for that.
Just like in the gamer score challenges people start throwing around the word "Cheat" for doing things within the system (like playing easy games!) which is NOT cheating. it is not cheating to vote up a theme from your community. In fact it is encouraged.
Thank you borandi for your statement. It is right on, and your community is not at fault.
Cheers, Trapper

I voted on all the themes last night, including yours Doofey (I'm pretty sure anyway!)
Keep them coming and I'll keep voting. I take it once I've voted on a theme once I can't vote on it again...like every day?
