| Is there a way to get the Challenge ID from the Challenge Code, or a way to get data from the Challenge.details XML with only the Challenge Code? Currently the only to get this ID is to log out of your gamertag, log in as someone else, and then attempt to join said challenge. |

what exactly are you trying to do - i would say no, there isnt actually anything public in the API which relates the code and the challenge id - but what are you trying to do, it might be possible without this link?
since there really is no public link to a challenge code the only place i could see that you are picking it up is on the forums (or maybe your new gateway code?), if you were to look at the challenge details for the person promoting the challenge (assuming they are actually in said challenge) you can get the ID by getting challenge details by gamertag

Yes, it's for my gateway code. I was thinking of just having the user paste the join URL into a text area so that it can automatically get the data from the XML feed.
I was thinking of using the challenge details feed to get the info I need from the challenge, but I was hoping for a faster way than waiting until the XML feeds are updated (same time as blogs?). I'll try this way for a bit, see how well it works.
The reason I thought it could be translated by Code->ID was that ID->Code would be silly as anyone could join any challenge. |

we might be able to cook something up for you, i just have to validate with the boys it wouldn't open up some sort of risk, or other reason we couldnt do it.
as far as using the challenge details the data you were looking for should be relatively current whenever you look at it - the current gains and stuff like that would be held to the standard update schedule but once a challenge is in place the title, etc is in the api.
just to validate this, i removed myself from the API challenge, refreshed the API and it went to the previous challenge i was in, now as i join back in, it again shows the API challenge information.
but if giving you something where you can get the challenge id for a valid code makes it smoother or easier (and there is no ill effects of doing so on our side) i am fine with giving you a service for that.

Seems like if you already have a code, it wouldn't be risk to translate it into a challenge...
I did notice something wierd... challenges 6300 something to around 7800 are all empty challenges set up for last week's auto challenges. Might be a bug in the auto-challenge code...
