Our friends from Xbox Scene has the scoop on the much-anticipated "Jasper" revision of the Xbox 360 motherboard, which makes use of a GPU manufactured with a 65-nm process and as a result has a new power supply. The "Jasper" revision is expected to put an end to the red ring of death hardware failure that has affected the Xbox 360 for the last three years.
The new power supply is now 150W (25W less than those used with Falcon boards) and the plug has of course been changed so u can't plugin this PSU into an older motherboard.
Other unannounced change ... the onboard flash chip has grown from 16MB to 256MB. Microsoft included internal memory storage, so the Arcade SKU now ships without (external) Memory Unit and the new NXE dash will install fully on the flashchip (rather than requiring a HDD or external MU).

I may buy this...I need a new hard drive anyways (I have the 20gb and only have 1gb free) and I might as well dodge the RRoD at the same time. |

| Heard about this the other day and now I'm just waiting for the box I have now to brick on me so I can pick one of these bad boys up and grab a 60 or a 120giger to go with it. Any words on when they might be hitting the stores? |

| Well, I just recently picked up an Elite when my old X360 RRoD on me. So, doubt I will pick this one up if th Elite goes RRoD on me and just wait for the replacement. Spending too much money on the X360 as it is :D |

but hopefully i won't have too.

Waaaay too much lol
I bought the Elite and sold the refurb they sent me once that got back to me. I could do the same with the Elite, but seriously, I don't want to. I hope this one lasts me 3 years. By then the new Xbox should be near or released.

| In the stores now. Look for FDOU lot 842X or higher then confirm the label which should read "XBOX 360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008" and you can sometimes see the 12.1A through the serial window if you shake it a bit. |
