360v Badges FAQ

What Are Badges?

Badges are a visual representation of who you are as a gamer. They are displayed on your forum postings, along side of your blog and signatures are available to show off your accumulated badges. The requirements for each badge are unique based off of what category the badge is from, which brings us to...

What are the Badge categories?

Badges are available in the following categories

  • Gaming Style
  • Mood
  • Gamerscore Challenge
  • Streaks
  • Watched
  • Arcade Completion
  • Retail Completion
  • Other
  • Assigned
  • Collections
  • Genres

Each category has several available badges, so let's take a look at each category one by one.

Gaming Style

These badges show off your completion percentage for all games on your card that you have scored points in. Zero point titles (such as Kung-Fu Panda on my own card) are not taken into account.

The completion percentage is based off of total score, not achievements won.

Mood

These badges represent how much your 360 loves you. The requirements for this set of badge are not completely known, but if you play more frequently, your 360 will love you more. If you don't play for weeks, your 360 is going to start leaning towards Hate.

Gamerscore Challenge

One of the best features about 360voice is the Gamerscore Challenge system. Gamers compete head to head for 3,5,7,14 or even 30 days to see who can get the most gamerscore. The site does all the work for you, tracking gamers each day and presenting a visual line graph of the proceedings. You can read more here.

Viral

You earn this badge by WINNING a challenge over someone else that already has this badge. You can not simply score higher, you must come in first place to become infected.

Challenger

You earn these badges by simply taking part in a Gamerscore Challenge. Participate in 1, 10, 25 and 50 challenges to earn more stars. These badges will only be displayed while you are currently in a challenge.

Hail To The King

The Hail To The King (HTTK) badges are based off of your challenge score. This is not your earned gamerscore, but based off of your placement in a challenge, how long it lasted and how many participants. For the exact breakdown of challenge score, take a look here. The badges are given out at increments of 100 points/1,000 points/10,000 points/100,000 points.

Challenge Wins

Simply win the required amount of challenges for each badge. Auto challenges and user-created challenges both count.

Streaks

Play your 360 for the required number of days IN A ROW to earn the Streak badges. There's good advice here on how to keep a streak.

This badge is ONLY given to the user with the longest active streak on 360voice. The current (and only one ever) holder is PSonic.

Watched

One of the features of your blog is the ability to send out Watcher Comments. These are messages that appear under that day's blog entry for everyone watching your blog. The other advantage of having many watchers is that you can earn these badges!

If you would like people to watch your blog, then you can post on the forum in The OFFICIAL "Watch My Blog" Thread. I will point out here that if you ask for watchers anywhere else on the site, outside of watcher comments or micro blog entries, then your request will be deleted.

This badge goes to the Most Watched Blog on 360voice. The current holder is the creator of the Badge Calculator, Fshguy.

Arcade Completion

These badges are earned by earning all the gamerscore in the required number of arcade titles. You do not need every achievement, just the full 200/250 points.

If you have a completed Arcade title and the maximum points are increased (such as added DLC), then you must earn the new maximum to be awarded for a completion.

Why yes, that is a badge for 500 Arcade Completions. It could happen!

Retail Completions

These badges are earned by earning all the gamerscore in the required number of retail titles. You do not need every achievement, just the maximum amount of points. For example in Call of Duty: World at War, you do not need the 0 point achievements for reaching Prestige 10.

If you have a completed Retail title and the maximum points are increased (such as added DLC), then you must earn the new maximum to be awarded for a completion.

Yes Virginia, there is a badge for 500 Retail Completions.

Other

Elite Score

You have to have a gamerscore in the top 1% of all registered users on 360voice for this badge. If you fall beneath the threshold, you lose the badge.

IN Crowd

You earn this by playing the most played game each day. You can go to the Games tab and see the board for the top ten most played games.

Motto

Include "360voice" in your Xbox LIVE motto and you will get this badge. Note that it only looks at the motto and does NOT look at your bio.

Assigned Badges

3VCE

This badge marks 360voice Community Experts (moderators).

API Samurai

To earn this badge, you must create something cool/useful using the site's API. This involves web-based programming and requires a degree of skill and technical knowhow to achieve. Some people have made programs to track Blog Watchers, or create custom challenges for example.

API Ninja

The best of the best with API. Those with this badge have done something incredible for the site. For example, Fshguy made the Badge Calculator, Squidpunch made the Streak Saver.

Contest Winner

Win an official 360voice contest and you get this badge along with your prize!

Plays Well With Others

Take part in a 360voice Community Event and you will be rewarded with this badge. Examples includeChrome30's October Team Challenge in October of '09, the STEI, the HERBIE and the Skyline Challenge.

Creator

Create something that shows off the 360voice logo and is available to the public. Some people made cars in Forza, or skateboards in SKATE.

I made the logo on my farm....in Farmville.

Street Team

This is earned by purchasing a 360v shirt through the "Shirt" tab on your blog, it's just below where your gamerscore is listed, to the left of your avatar. Then once you get your shirt, post a picture in the Community Showcase forum showing it off!

Collections

Collections are a group of badges earned by having played each game listed for that particular collection. You do not need to earn *any* points in the game, just have it show up on your blog at least once as having been played.

If a game is added to a collection, you will lose your Collection Badge unless you play the new game.

Launch King

The original collection. Quite literally. You must play all 16 of the Xbox 360's launch titles to earn this badge. You can scroll to the bottom of the Badge Calculator and click the Collections link, or you can take a look hereto see the required games.

Movie Games

Play each movie adaption for this badge. Games based off of movie properties, such as Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena or Cars: Mater-National do not count, but a direct tie-in such as Iron Man or James Cameron's Avatar does.

The full listing is available here.

Superhero

Play every Superhero title on the 360. The required titles can be found here/

TV Games

Play every game based off of a TV show. SouthPark, Sponge Bob, Pimp My Ride, etc. The listing is available here.

The Great Outdoors

Play every hunting/fishing game on the 360. This includes the Cabela and Rapala franchises, as you can see here.

Bodycount

Play every game that has an achievement requiring you to kill at LEAST 10,000 enemies. Examples are Gears of War, Too Human and Dead Rising. The full listing is here.

Easycore

Play every "quick and easy" completion. These are the fastest and easiest points you will ever earn. Avatar and Dash of Destruction represent this badge with pride(?). The full listing is here.

Note: The badge image is the image used to designate the easiest ski slopes. A circle marks a beginner's course.

Hardcore

The opposite of Easycore, Hardcore is earned by playing the longest, most time consuming titles available, or the most skill based. Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Ninja Gaiden 2 are examples of each. The full listing is here.

Note: The image is the same used to mark the hardest ski trails. The double black diamond marks expert-only ski trails.

Master Collector

You earn this badge by earning all the other collection badges. You must have ALL the collections at the SAME TIME to receive this badge.

Genre Badges

These badges represent a gamer's devotion to each genre. The 1* badge is earned for having 30% of the total gamerscore in a genre. The 2* is awarded at 60% and the 3* is earned for 90% of the total possible GS.

To see which game is in which genre, click the Badge Calculator to the left side of your blog.
Action Shooters

Action Shooters is a genre that was spun off of Action/Adventure and FPS. These are shooters, usually third person, in which stylistic, run'n'gun gameplay is of the utmost importance. Most Action Shooters reward you for killing foes a certain way and they tend to have a stylish, over the top cinematic presentation. Good examples are WET, Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days and the ultimate action shooter: Bulletstorm.

Action/Adventure

This genre represents Action titles, such as WET or Stranglehold and the Adventure titles, such as the Tomb Raider franchise.

The full listing is here.

Family

This genre is for the kid friendly titles, like Cars or Feeding Frenzy. The LEGO titles also have a home here.

The Family list is here.

Fighting

Fighting is filled with, well, fighting games. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Tekken are all fighting games that you can find here.

All the pugilists are here.

Hack and Slash

Hack'n'Slash is the term for the games that pit one vs. an army. The Dynasty Warriors series fits this bill, as does the bloody X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Hack'n'Slash can be found here.

Historic Shooters

Historic Shooters spun off of the FPS genre. These shooters are typically first person games but the setting and weapons are of the historical variety. This can include the Civil War, Old West (Call of Juarez), Vietnam (Shellshock) and of course, World War 2 (Call of Duty 2,3 and World at War).

JRPG

JRPG (Japense RPG) is a new genre that covers the "traditional" console role playing games. These are games where you follow a fairly linear story and engage in turn-based or semi real-time battles with an overworld and battle maps. Examples include Penny Arcade Episode 1, Final Fantasy 13 and Tales of Vesperia.

Modern Shooter

Modern Shooter spun off of the FPS genre. These shooters take place during modern or very near future times and settings. They tend to include real life settings and weapons. The best examples of this genre are Modern Warfare (Duh) and Battlefield: Bad Company.

Music/Rhythm

Shows off musical talent! This includes instrument-based titles like Guitar Hero 2, vocal titles such as Lips and dance titles such as DDR: Universe.

Rock out with this listing.

Oddball

If a game is so bizarre that it defies any genre definition, then it goes into Oddball. This includes Dead or Alive Extreme 2, Overlord and The Maw.

Admire the Oddities here.

Party

These are mini-game collection titles that are ideally played with multiple people. Such as Hail to the Chimp! or the Scene It? titles.

Party down with these.

Puzzle

This genre is for the games that make you think, such as Hexic, Bejeweled 2 and Peggle.

Wrap your mind around them here.

Race

This covers any sort of racing, stock car, dirt bike, simulations and arcade style. Burnout, Need for Speed and NASCAR all can be found here.

Admire the wheels here.

Retro

The titles that you....or your parents....grew up with! Classics such as DIG DUG, Galaga, TMNT 1989 or even the Sonic's Ulitame Genesis Collection pack.

Relive your memories with this list.

Sandbox

Open world games, like Crackdown, Bully or Just Cause. Why does "open world" seem to mean "let's find collectibles!" I don't know, but if you want even the 1*, you'll need a map.

Perhaps you can get your bearings by checking out the list here?

Sci-Fi Shooter

Spun off of the FPS genre, Sci-Fi Shooter covers very futuristic games that typically involve aliens, space travel and fantastic weapons. Examples of this genre include Gears of War and Halo 3.

SHMUP

Shoot'Em Ups! The classic arcade genre in which its you, your ship, and thousands of bullets on screen flying at you. Raiden, Ikaruga and Geometry Wars find their home here.

Blast away at this listing.

Social

Social titles are those games that are just better with other people. Ever play UNO by yourself? Or Gin Rummy? These are more fun with other people.

Learn how to play with others by clicking this.

Sports

Even if you are not an athlete, you can pretend to be one from the comfort of your couch by playing the latest Madden, NBA, NHL, MLB titles.....or even Backyard Football '10.

Suit up with these titles.

Strategy

Another genre for the thinking man, that values brain over brawn....or at least brain inside of a tank. The Command and Conquer series can be found here, as can turn based titles such as Operation Darkness or Culdcept Saga.

Plot, analyze and overcome these titles.

Survival/Horror

Scare the pants off of yourself with these games that are best played in the dark, by yourself, in an old mansion built atop a burial ground. Alone in the Dark and Dead Space can be found here, but so can a nail-biter of a different kind in the struggle to survive that is Left 4 Dead.

BOO!

Top Gun

This genre covers the flight sims, both modern such as HAWX and historical such as Blazing Angels, and even in deep space in the guise of Project Slypheed.

Take off into the Danger Zone with these titles.

Wrestling

Indulge in one of the oldest sports with the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw franchise or experience the new wave of combat sports with the UFC.

Pin these titles to the mat.

WRPG

WRPG (Western RPG) spun off from the RPG genre. This genre includes games that follow the traditional PC gaming variety of RPG. A fairly open world with an open story line and active combat that takes place directly in the main playing area. This genre also includes the "loot fest"/"dungeon crawler" variety of RPG. Examples include Borderlands, Fallout 3, Oblivion and Too Human.

But you're missing XXXX from genre XXXX!

Then go on over to the This Game should be in THIS genre!" thread and let us know!

Good job dog do you think the street team badge could have a * next to it saying "Thanks ESS3NC3 0F 3V1L" for making this one happen!

As said by SparkyMP "Fighting on the internet is like participating in the Special Olympics, even if you win you are still retarded."

No. It would be very difficult to list the credits for each badge.

You do bring up a great point though, and it's that not only can people suggest games for genres, but if you have a badge idea, make a thread and share it with the rest of us!

That's how the Street Team badge was created, as was the Top Gun genre!
