So, I picked up a DSi XL today, and gave the old DS Lite to my son.

I haven't messed around too much in it. However, I was wondering if any of the current DSi owners had any suggestions of cool things to check out on it.

Isn't there an app store or something for it?

This post done on the DSi XL browser, to play with it.

Wow that's cool, didn't know they could browse the web!

If there's a compatible unit, I suggest finding an R4 device of some kind, it can protect any games you buy by allowing you to play the backup version.

Yea the R4 is the best part of having a DS but make sure you get one out of Japan because most of those other ones don't end up working properly, so I've heard.

Yup. Mine came from Japan and only cost $15 each. I think you were in the party the night I explained it to PSONIC?

It's a very nice device, and definitely keeps your purchased copies of the game clean and don't have to worry about them breaking.

I find them great to balance a wobbly table. Just put it under the shorter leg and whammo, no more wobbly table.

I snagged a DSi XL today as well. I will be looking into getting some nice little things for it too. Keep me posted on the stuff you like futiles.

So far, I haven't actually had a day off to play with it, so all I grabbed was one of the $2 Sudoku games. It has 5 difficulty levels, plus, you can put in the Sudoku from your newspaper, and it figures it out. You then have the choice to do it at your leisure on the DSi, or you can use it to cheat at Sudoku games, cause it has a hint function.

Keep in mind that whatever you buy from that nintendo store stays with that device and you can't transfer it. Nintendo has been that way forever and with the new XL and people upgrading, people are finally calling fowl play at nintendo.

True, but I tend to skip handheld generations.

Gameboy Color -> DS Lite -> DSi XL (and I gave the DS Lite to my kid)

I haven't really spent a lot on Wiiware or Virtual Console, either.

It isn't really a fear of being able to transfer it, though, and more of a casual use of the device on my part.

Also, in most cases, software licenses are based on the hardware, not the user. So, it is really XBL DLC that is the exception (in a good way here) to a rule I am used to.
