This list will answer the most common questions asked regarding the Gears of War 3 Challenge.

Will points earned prior to September 20th be counted? I plan on picking GoW 3 up at the midnight release and want to play right when I get home!

Yes, any points scored prior to September 20th will still be counted for your Brotherhood.

Will points I earn prior to joining a Brotherhood still be counted for my Brotherhood's total?

Yes, even if you earn points while not in a Brotherhood, yet join one before October 10th, your points will still be counted towards your Brotherhood.

That's all well and good, I'll put up a bunch of points, but I'm in Europe. Will I still be able to earn a prize?

Yes, there are no region restrictions on prizes. This event is open worldwide for everyone to take part in.

But how come I can't see what points my Brotherhood is putting up?

This is because with no Gears of War 3 points being scored as of yet, there is no way for us to create a leaderboard. Once a Brotherhood begins scoring Gears of War 3 points, a leaderboard will be created for you automatically. The main leaderboard here Gears of War 3 Challenge Main Page will show how you rank as a Brotherhood.

How can I get credit for referring people to my Brotherhood?

On your Brotherhood page you will see two links on the upper right hand side. The top one is for referring people directly to your challenge. The bottom one is for referring people to the event and so long as they join *any* Brotherhood, you will receive referral points.

Referral points? How does that work?

Every participating CoG with a Gold account will earn you three points.

Every participating CoG with a Silver account that earns at least 50 points in Gears of War 3 will earn you one point.

The referral leaderboard can be viewed at any time on the main event page. This leaderboard updates automatically and there is no need for you to do anything but get your referral links out there (Facebook/Twitter/Reddit/Google+, etc)

I hate my group. Can I leave?

Well, if it's before October 10th then yes you can. You can leave your Brotherhood at any time before we lock the rosters on October 10th. Simply click the "Groups" tab up top from any page, find your Brotherhood in the list (most likely the top group) and click the "leave" button.

I'm a Head CoG, and wondered what the difference is between "Open" and "Private" groups?

Open groups are available for any to join simply by clicking the "Join" button on the main challenge page.

Private groups are only available to if people click "Join" and give the proper password, set by the Head CoG *OR* they click someone's Brotherhood referral link, which puts them automatically in the group with no password needed.

Can I switch from an open to private Brotherhood or private to open?

Both. The Head CoG can control the type of Brotherhood by clicking the "Groups" link at the top of any page here on 360voice and then selecting "Edit Group" for their Brotherhood.

I'm a Head CoG, and I want to remove some dead weight to bring in people that will actually play the game. How can I do this?

The Head CoG has access to the "edit group" button from our "Groups" tab. Simply click "Groups" from any page here on 360voice and you will see "Edit Group" next to your Brotherhood. From here you can remove any members that you wish prior to October 10th.

So until October 10th I can join a Brotherhood or find a new one? Even if I was not part of one on September 20th when the event started?

Correct. You may recruit people up until October 10th, you can hop Brotherhoods and you can, if the Head CoG, remove people from your group until that date.

My Brotherhood only has 8 people in it, how can we compete against a Brotherhood with 40?

Well, you can't compete against a Brotherhood with 32 more people then you, unless of course you get extremely lucky. The best course of action for you is to find another Brotherhood that also has just a few people, contact the Head CoG and discuss joining forces. Any referrals you have for your original Brotherhood are still good and you will still get credit for them even if the Brotherhood ceases to exist.

Grabbing new gamers and merging with other Brotherhoods of a similar size in order to reach 40 contributing gamers is a great strategy. Remember, you can join a Brotherhood, start a new one or remove people from your Brotherhood up until October 10th.

What happens in the case of a tie?

The Brotherhood that achieved that score first will be given credit. If two Brotherhoods tie for first, then the first Brotherhood to achieve that score will be credited with first place while the other Brotherhood will receive credit for second.

*This post will be updated periodically throughout the Challenge*

Someone in my brotherhood already has a copy of the game (works for the media). If he starts playing it now, do those points really count now? It says any points before the 20th, but we want to make sure before letting loose.

I believe it will not be a problem.

I am following up with Fshguy for total clarity.

Confirmed. He can score away and points will be added as normal on the 20th.

We have a larger then expected group of media taking part in the event so a few Brotherhoods have this same issue.

I am head Cog of a group, and I am not seeing the "edit group" option you mentioned. I am trying to kick a member who entered his gamertag incorrectly when signing up to the site

EDIT: Nvm I found it, I feel stupid. [:|]

My Group is not currently "working"... It shows it in my Groups Section... but the people I have linked in have not been able to join and it doesn't show on the Official Gears Challenge Page... Did I do something wrong?

Make sure to create your group through the Gears challenge link http://360voice.gamerdna.com/gears/ It looks like you may have just created a group, but it has to be done through the challenge page. If that's not it, then not sure.

Well, I swear that is how I did it before... but I deleted my first try... made a new Brotherhood... and it seems fine now. Still not sure what happened but as long as it is fixed I am happy.

Thanx, Buckswana!

Not to be a party pooper but I honestly don't see the fairness in allowing participants who have and are already playing GOW 3 in this challenge. The way I see it, is they have an advantage over those of us that don't have it yet in having more time to earn the achievements.

I see only 2 options:

1. Those that have and are playing the game before the release date are not allowed in the challenge or the points they've earned before the release date are omitted.

or

2. If they are allowed in the challenge. A time extension for only participants that will get the game on or after official release date for the amount of time that participants who has and played the game before the release date.

Fair is fair and time especially when earning achievements is always a factor.

We will not be extending time for non-game review staff, nor will be disallowing any of their points.

The reality of game reviews, particularly this time of year, means they have a "head start" but that will quickly give way to other duties and other games that must be played to keep their jobs. Whereas those that are not professional reviewers can keep playing Gears of War 3.

Over time, the scales will even out between reviewers and those that start playing on the 19th (midnight launch). I doubt the 6 or 7 reviewers, spaced among many teams, will be able to tip the scales.

Ahh no... Whether you're being serious or not. My life responsibilities don't allow me the time to play games 24/7. And if it did. It wouldn't be playing video games.

With that clarification I guess it's not that big of a problem. I was under the assumption that there are a significant more of these "reviewers" participating that it would have made a difference.

Seems like a weird assumption. Other people have jobs too and they are not allowed to play Gears at work. Especially 10 days before it's released. These people can also play when they are not working. Just like most the people going for this challenge are going to have to do. Some of them working 2 jobs. I really don't see any fairness in what was said here. Almost laughable to be honest. I agree with the other gentlemen that time should be penalized off the people that have been playing the game early to make it fair and just for everybody. Even if those people already have a slight advantage by being able to do a whole campaign solely for work.

We have under 20 people out of over 1000, spaced throughout 8 Brotherhoods that have points already. That is not an insurmountable obstacle and there will be no time penalty, nor extra time for anyone. Under 1% have a "head start", which is not nearly sizable enough for any adjustments to be made.

This will be simply adding up the Gears of War 3 gamer score for all of the people in your group. No fancy formula or ratio...

Possibly a clarification of this would be:

There are a possible 40 gamers in a Brotherhood.
There are a possible 1000 points in Gears of War 3.

If all 40 gamers in a single Brotherhood complete the entire list of Achievements in Gears of War 3, then said Brotherhood would have earned 40,000 points (40 x 1000).

If 40 gamers in a single Brotherhood fail to score any achievements in Gears of War 3, then said Brotherhood would have earned 0 points (40 x 0).

Likely, every Brotherhood will have some score in between those two extremes, being calculated by the sum total gamerscore in Gears of War 3 by all members of a Brotherhood. (So, take the final total gamerscore each member of your Brotherhood has in Gears of War 3, only, and add it up - That is your Brotherhood's final score)
