Here are the upcoming events that will qualify for the gold, silver, and bronze competition badges as well as the community event badge.
   
More events than these may be added. If you are motivated to design and host an event, feel free to inquire about receiving "official" status from either the Community Manager: Dog of Thunder or the Events Team: Chrome30| futiles| LausDomini
January 1st: U.S. Gamerscore Open

February 1st: Skyline 2012
Signups - January 16th-29th
Teams of four will be randomly selected. Each team member has a tower that is built out of achievements. The team with the last remaining tower/s is the winner. Game completions will award bricks that can be tossed onto opponent towers. Don't use up all those Kinect Fun Labs games (easy completions) just yet!
Beginning of April / three days after April genre update: Buffet 2012
Signups - March 19th-31st
Race to score points from all of the genres. If there are 30 genres, the goal will be 25,000 points. If there are 32 genres (platformer + fitness?) the goal will be 26,000 points. Only 1,000 points from a genre count towards the total. The 5-6K buffer exists for gamers who may have already played every point-and-click game or who may just choose to avoid Tekken 6 (MarvzMitts)
July 15th: Super Team Elimination Invitational II
Score points. But not too many points. Unless you want to bonus down. Stay up late on Saturday nights. Fail simple math additions. It's the return of the STEI! Details to come, including differences from the original. |

| hehe, I was going to play that during the HERBIE, but never having really played a Tekken game before and after getting the Tekken history lesson I was like, Yeeeeaahh, I think I will play this some other time. |

Herbie 2 = Showtime
Im all for a Herbie 2 but can it not be during the summer if the powers of 360Voice feel the Herbie 2 will happen?
And what ever is posted after me will be found to be a 100% true. |

I sent a message to DoT over LIVE but haven't gotten a response yet. I should put on my 360v shirt and drive to his house (hour away) and ask in person.

I would definitely support a front page post and the community event badge, but most events probably won't see the competition badges until they have been proven successful. (See: Buffet 1, Skyline 1, EGG 1) For instance, since Michigan and Pennsylvania have 8 participants and would currently have to battle for three months to determine a winner, how is that fair to a state that only has to compete for one month to see a winner? I tend to agree with Laus.
I'd be fine with community events, but am leery for the contest winner badges.
Also, you should never, ever see 1st and 2nd place badge winners without seeing 3rd place.
(Basically, that would mean any contest that did not support 1-3 places would not be supported for those badges, in my mind) |

One of the events in the pipeline that I am helping design follows this model!
Another that I am really excited about is pretty strategic but it still rewards all out gamerscore.
My personal preference for a STEI 2 would be to have floating (random) elimination spots so it's not always first and last to be eliminated, but maybe 3rd and 16th one week and 8th and 10th another week. Of course I suggest that because I am too weak to avoid those first place eliminations that got me last time! |

STEI 2!!!
That's an interesting idea for the STEI 2 LausDomini. It might be interesting if 2nd place and last place would get the strikes. That way scores would be higher and we could avoid the gamerscore nightmare that took place the last several weeks of the STEI 1. |

That, and you can basically look at the Lucky Number challenge as having been an annexed portion of the official events team.
Some member of the team had a hand in the creation and implementation of the event from the very early stages. |

Spring EGG can go on their Laus... I am barely keeping my head above water as we are really deep into our busy season leading up to our HUGE New Years Even lock-in party (I still owe you a Skyline spreadsheet, I haven't forgotten, but I also think it might have gotten corrupted when we moved to the new server... but I digress)
