Gotta be careful with first time events. I would definitely support a front page post and the community event badge, but most events probably won't see the competition badges until they have been proven successful. (See: Buffet 1, Skyline 1, EGG 1) For instance, since Michigan and Pennsylvania have 8 participants and would currently have to battle for three months to determine a winner, how is that fair to a state that only has to compete for one month to see a winner? What if the sparse states are combined by region so that everyone has the same length of competition?
If this is the case how did the lucky number get medals then?
See the red bold print above?
That, and you can basically look at the Lucky Number challenge as having been an annexed portion of the official events team.
Some member of the team had a hand in the creation and implementation of the event from the very early stages.
That makes sense then. And we all know Fsh rigged it for the win :P |

As Fshguy's Lucky Number's partner..... it really did just come down to Fshguy on the team (and we cheated).

You can post them here. I am confident the appropriate parties (futiles/fafhrrd) will find them. |

I will go thru all the participants and see who's missing the community event badge. |

Any chance of getting medal status for the 2012-2013 champions league I know that normally first time challenge don't get medal status usually but this is actually the second running of the event the first running ended this morning to a successful conclusion it was a test event but still had a quarter of the total field and ran for a third of the actual events time .
The actual event will have 64 entrants put into two person teams and will run for 10 plus weeks every team will get at least six weeks worth of event time after that it becomes a knock out full details are on the challenges thread. |

I still very much doubt you will get 64 people signing up. The buffet didn't even get that and that has been going for years. |

10% & 12% of 64 is only 6-8 people. Even if the two groups were 100% unique and distinct, you would be at 14 people. |

| We have 12 but in it's defense I haven't really started advertising yet this was kind of my first movement in that department also I wanted to see how the test event played out and I do believe most of the entrants in that will join the event proper knocking us up to around 25 still with a long way to go but as well the shear length of time people have to challenge should make it worth the first 6 weeks are split into a round every two weeks so Monday to Friday one week next week brake like that for the group stage then knockout rounds half teams play one week other half play the next then the return legs of the fixtures one weeks between knockout round ends up making the fight for the title like 5 months so the winner will have earned that medal. |

| No offense Rogue, but instead of asking for medals now, why not try to get them once you have finished advertising and are near or at your 64 people? I'm not entirely sure where you're getting 12 either. Your thread has basically complete overlap with your group other than a few non-committal maybes. Right now I just see you and 5 others, not 12. |

Rogue also failed to mention that his test group was not volunteers. He hand selected his friends and people from his watcher lists. The majority of the people didn't even know they were in his "test group" and if they did, they were utterly confused as to what it was. |

I actually was not going to bring up pTart's point, but the test was a "success" - But, there was no real live tracking for it either.
I am not saying it is completely without any possibility of seeing medals, but at this point, I would not support it.
Bring it up again later.
-However, for me to support it (and I am not the decider, but merely just one voice in a pool of many), you would need:
A large group of at least 25-35 participants (since you would be giving badges to 6 of them) Better defined rules of scoring (it is fairly vague in there now) Some form of semi-live tracking, even if it is just using Fshguy's h2hgsl tool A schedule breakdown (yes, I know you need teams first, but you could have a preliminary layout) I get that it breaks down like a Soccer/Futbol tourney, but for the majority of users (which happen to be US citizens) that may not be a natural observation, so, you may need to explain the schedule and format a bit. |

Rogue - Just from my own experiences, it is way easier to get support and participation for an event that you want to run if you first spend time volunteering and helping run some of the other events first. There are always opportunities to help out with other big events on the site.
The EGG event that I ran last fall was a great example. I couldn't do it without the help of volunteers who helped me tally the results daily so that I could format them on the official scoring site. If those volunteers wanted to step up and run a brand new event they would get lots of support because they would have:
A) Got to know lots of the players from helping in the previous events B) Shown they can start something and stick with it over a long period of time
Before I even dreamed of setting up the EGG event I spent last year helping Lausdomini run the first Skyline event. I met lots of the regulars while updating the scoreboard every single day for that event over a 4 month period. They all knew that if I started a brand new event I would see it through to the end. |

Score points. But not too many points. Unless you want to bonus down. Stay up late on Saturday nights. Fail simple math additions. It's the return of the STEI! Details to come, including differences from the original.

Requesting United States Gamerscore Open 2013 (season 2) be added to the community events again this year. Last year we had just under 100 players. Running from Jan 1st thru Mar 1st.
On second thought, scratch this. The turnout this year is less than 1/3 of last year. I'm not sure I'll even run it now....or run it this year and let this be the last one. |
