If you as a moderator can see that there was nothing strategic about the edit but simply punctuation, couldn't you make some sort of judgement call on what to do? Losing their bricks seems excessive for something that was absent minded and not intended to corrupt the proceedings. |

You could have made a second post to clarify if the grammar was that bad.
Personally, I'm afraid to even post in this thread given my frequent habit of editing for further clarification. |

Laus can perhaps give them their bricks back for future use, but otherwise, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, Grape Ape would cry "FOUL" (and be in the right).
There was an edit, the rules say not to do that, making it null and void.
Now if Team N's drop is null and void as well for being considered a "second drop" then I have a problem over different definitions of "nullified". |

We are Team N.

Well that is what I get for posting from my phone and tablet and not a real computer. It is not like those three bricks would have mattered anyway.
Sorry Todd and thanks to everyone else for pointing out how retarded I am |

Mistakes happen. A desire to have good diction even in a forum posting does help separate you from the unwashed masses of the Internet. :-) |

This.
I'm super anal about spelling and grammar as well and probably would've done the same thing. Future note to my team... I am not posting brick drops EVER. |

Also, if a "null" posting counts as a drop and prevents further ones, a team with one brick can post they are dropping on a "friendly" team and then edit the post to nullify it.
Their buddies are safe for the day, with no one else able to drop on them and no bricks from their "allies". Provided a team can continually hit 1 brick (not too hard given the numbers we have seen so far), this is a great way to grant a safety net as we go down the stretch.
If the rules work as I believe they do, then this tactic that abuses the penalty will not work. |

| Just of of curiosity while we're hammering out clarification of the rules, is it just the posts that declare a drop that can't be edited or is it *any* post in this thread? |

You guys do know you can edit your posts that aren't brick dropping posts, right?

They would have to be awful friendly to give up all their bricks to protect another team. |

Phew. I think I'll still play it safe though. |

Yep, was double and triple checking last night just to make sure I wasn't getting the team name wrong (I did almost leave Hamster Power on there). That would have been quite the embarrassment. |

Not to get too formal, but the rules state:
quote: From the Skyling Rules as it pertains to dropping bricks and after the initial post is made:
At that point, editing the post is not permitted, and will nullify the bonus usage as well as empty the team's storage of gold bricks.
Now, the rules specifically use the word NULLIFY.
This is defined as:
quote: From the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
1: to make null; especially : to make legally null and void 2: to make of no value or consequence
So, it specifically means that is has no value and no consequence, which means it could not block another team from dropping bricks, as that would be a value to one team (the team that would be "safe" from having another drop done, and a consequence to all others as they would not be able to drop on said team).
That is my take, and probably a bit to drawn out, but just wanted it out there. |

Look in the actual Skyline 2012 thread. According to Laus, yes, the second drop stands. |
