I am having some difficulty with my scripts, as site performance has been an issue.
I know fshguy is working on some issues, and performance has been better the past 24 hours.
Once it has been stabilized for an extended period, I will have a better idea.
Also, since there was little to no discussion in the thread I started, I guess I will be the final decision on pulling from 360voice or xbox.com.

| I understand how people have more important things to do then game or have a competition(like playing minecraft...) My frustration comes from the point that Futiles said that the comp would start somewhere around august 1st....Then come the beginning of the month, no word from futile. Then he said he would post a schedule on Friday August 17th.....come August 17th, no schedule and no explanation. If something is going on or you guys are having problems then have the common courtesy to let us know. And for you LORD TODDY do what you want I dont care... |

Wow... we're booting people for asking the questions about when the competitions are starting.
Seems a little extreme.
See "youtube Rage Quit" videos.
Doesn't seem like he broke any rules of any kind. I too am frustrated and have been wondering what has been going on for the last 3 weeks with this thing.
I think what he (Oregon) was saying was, he understands that everyone has more important things going on... we ALL do. But why get us all signed up and ready to go, then tell us to wait not once, but twice. Seems a little un-organized to me also. I'm just saying, the lines of communication here have been severed terribly. Why are we as competitors not getting updates so we can plan accordingly? |

Asking questions is fine...but leave it at that.
I'm playing devils advocate here, but I'm willing to bet that he MIGHT consider doing it himself based on his responses. Maybe if he had the right tools he COULD do it. If Futiles is to busy to get us started on the thing he gathered us all here to do, let him step aside and hand over the reigns to someone who has a little more time or motivation on his hands. That way he can handle his things that are "more important in life than video games". |

It's not as simple as 'if futiles cannot do it, then let's grab a random who IS willing to do it'...it's not just a simple challenge, it's a community event eligible for the medals (unless I'm mistaken).
EDIT: Also, if you look at the track record of newer members in these community events...it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence that they would stick with it, we've already had someone delete their blog etc after promising prizes.
Don't think I am bashing new people on this site, we were all new once. |

And somebody please explain how this is any kind of meltdown? I simply pointed out that once again in another competition on 360 voice, that things were unorganized and information kept in the dark.... |

Honestly, I had nothing to add.
I am working on my code, spending time with my family, working on my truck, working at my job, hanging out with our friends, impressing my boss, his boss, his boss and his boss, shifting my schedule by 12 hours again, preparing for a trip Thursday, preparing for three cub scout events the next week, cleaning and moving stuff in the house in anticipation of my sister and two nieces arriving that Friday, and getting my kid to school.
I really don't care if Oregon sticks around and stays in the contest, or if he leaves, or if toddy removes him, or if he just hangs around and complains. So, with that complete and total lack of emotion, and already having a rather full plate, I left it alone.
That being said:
We will be using each player's xbox.com profile.
I will be pulling the OFFICIAL score report using a scripted bot at EXACTLY Midnight Pacific Time each night.
Midnight on Sunday Night as the Calendar switches to Monday Morning will be the official Starting Score for each individual.
Midnight on Saturday Night as the Calendar switches to Sunday Morning will be the official Ending Score for each individual.
Xbox.com enjoys giving automated data pullers "interesting" data, no different than what you would get the following day using 360voice's data from the data pull.
This is a 6-day (144-hour) interval contest, so, I am not going to go back and "fix" missed data from the last 1.4% of the interval. We all know xbox.com gets wonky, and you should know the tricks by now.
I am not even considering launching the actual contest until 360voice has shown at least a week worth of stability. I know Fshguy is working on some things, and it has seemed better the last 48 hours.

So let's sum it up folks.
Site performance issues are what is delaying the contest. This is out of futiles hands and he can do nothing about it. Until Fshguy can get everything up to par then there is no point in starting the contest. If we can't get an ETA on getting the site up to spec, then there is no point in giving an ETA on starting the contest.
Now if that is not good enough for anyone, feel free to leave the contest.
Everything depends on the data pulls, and if those are too screwy, then there is no point in starting the contest. It will lead to too many complaints, problems and more bickering then we have now. |
