Okay folks its about time for another badge update. I predict there will be a lot of mourning for lost badges this time around because of all the moves, removals, and additions. Some of you might have already checked see the future and seen a lot of the damange. We did not want to make an announcement, because there are alot of games not up on see the future due to glitches that are out of my control.
They will be fixed whenever FSHguy finds the time to do so. However since we are getting close to that date, we figured it was time to bring you all up to speed. I will put explanations in the second post because there are quite a few to explain. So without further ado here is the update.

First up: removals
You might have noticed, asterix, my horse and me, and mushihime are gone. The badge team has decided upon a new for inclusions. If a game is not available for sale within the United States (meaning in a retail store or website or available for download over U.S. XBL store), then it is not going into a genre. We realize this is going to piss off a few people, but the sentiment is that this is a U.S. based site first, so we must cater to the majority of our users. Again we know some people are going to be pissed about this, but its something we have decided to live with. The rest of the removals are due to server shutdowns and glitches.
Moves: Remember that we said last update that the platformer badge would be a two stage process? Welcome to stage 2. All the 3D platformers we could find have been moved form other genres into platformer (including Mega man 9 and 10 from retro that we completely missed last update)
There has also been some moved out of console classics. We feel that console classics should be anything older than the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox era. So a lot of the collections have been moved out of console classics and into there move respective gameplay genres.
The new additions don't really require much explanation, but if you need some we will try to provide it.

| Why is Shrek Forever After going into Platformer? You have no ability to jump in the game. It is essentially a reskin of Legend of Zelda. |

The more recent Zelda games, yes. And so was Portal. But this is the early Zelda games like Link to the Past. |

| So if it's a game based on a kids movie, designed and marketed to children under 12, it goes in family, unless you can jump. Seems legit. |

Well considering Family will be gone as we know it come the next update, we will have to find new homes for them. |

Well if anything, then Shrek Forever After would be action/adventure, I suppose. Because it's definitely not a platformer.
I don't remember enough about Megamind to say whether I would think that's appropriate as a platformer...I was kind of rushing through that as fast as I could a year or so ago and little stuck with me.
And it looks like I need to get back to finishing up MGS collection (or at least getting the rest of the 840 points that aren't ridiculously time-consuming) before the update, just in case I change my mind and want to try to finish the 32K in the Buffet challenge... |

Those copies of Asterix that are listed are "second hand" new. That game was only available in PAL regions AND Canadian Walmart stores. It was never for sale in the states so that is why it was removed and will stay that way.
Lollipop Chainsaw and VF Final Strike will be added in the next update for those titles.
AS for the Platformers we tried to get a bunch in there, obviously we will add and correct to that. We just want to get it updated a bit for everyone as the Family "genre" will be removed and reassigned. |
