When Rare first told us that they where making a game for the 360 about Pinatas, it induced much more than a small chuckle in the gaming world, as everyone shrugged it off as a mediocre attempt by Rare to attract smaller children to the 360. Everyone was wrong.
As the game starts, all you are given is a rusty watering can, a shovel hanging to life by a piece of string, a small plot of very bad land, and hope. Within minutes you will have your very first Pinata, and from that single Wyrlm, you have the ability to create a paradise for Pinata of all kind.
As far as addicting games go, this one has the potential to be up there with some decent puzzle games, meaning it is very addictive. You will say "I'll just spend a minute or two just to see what this game is about." and easily spend 2+ hours without even realizing it. The game has so many little secrets that it is hard to play a single day without finding something new. Wether it be directing your Chicken to an egg to hatch it, or directing your fly to a piece of fruit for a little free manure.
As far as achievements go, this game has one of the most various around. While some of them are easy and straight-foward to get, others could take you quite a while and may even cause you to leave your console on overnight to achieve (*cough* <.<). But getting all 1000 points shouldn't be too difficult, seeing as each is worth 20 points.
Something that will deffinately help you out in this game though is having a friend who also plays it. Doing this makes the experience a lot more fun, because while you're out searching for a pinata that you and your friend need, your friend can be out doing the exact same thing with a diffrent pinata. This brings a new aspect of "teamwork without teams" to the game.
Overall, this game is increadibly enjoyable and laid-back. If you want a game that you can enjoy whenever, wether it be for 20 minutes or 20 hours, Viva Pinata is a must buy.
8.5/10

I think Viva is a really good game, I have it on hold though as you can spend a lot of time and I want to finish some other games.

This is the biggest surprize to me of 2006. When I heard there was going to be a game made out of the TV show I just laughed.
Then I was at a game store and I really wanted a new 360 game I saw viva pinata I though "why not" so I bought it and poped it in (after running it back to the store beacuse they did not give the game to me they gave me the game case but not the game disk .) I was addicted the first second and I was playing it every min. of the game.
But now I just play it every once and a while when I am needing a few achievements.
