How about a streak badge if you visit the site everyday?
Maybe you would have to leave a comment or post in the forum for your hit to count or visit a certain amount of pages. I know this is one streak badge I would be able to keep LOL |

yeah this has been floating around in my head for a while. Do people want to be tracked on the site like that?
Before it was a performance concern of that one extra check when someone logged in visits a page, but with the new servers its possible.
For comments you populate the name, so it would be kind of messy doing it by comment. We would probably have to check and say if you are logged in and you visit any blog, that counts as a visit. But then the support is a bit rough, were you logged in, when did you visit, what did you visit. I can just imagine people losing their streaks a lot =)

I wonder how people who stay logged in would be effected... would it be like not having a last played date? LOL

Ditto... I can't remember when the last time was that I had to sign in from home. I sign in from work weekly since they clear the form data & cache on our servers every weekend.

| Maybe you can make it so it it counts when you do something signifigant on the site, like make a comment on someones blog or post on the forums or the challenge feeds. That would actually take some effort on the individual's part and give it some merit for contributing every day. |

I like it.. As for the comments part, I've wondered why there's no option to use your logon info when placing comments. The site knows I'm sh0cktrooper, so why not automatically place that name and the url to my blog in the two fields? Maybe even disable the fields with a 'use login info' checkbox.. |

Personally, I think this is just an excuse for a badge.
Don't get me wrong, I'm up for a new badge on my blog as much as the next guy, but if there's one just for logging in, or posting a forum post, there would be a lot of us who get it!
And the thing with the streak badge is, it's actually difficult to keep sometimes. For instance, I went on holiday to Spain in November and in order to keep my streak badge (plus I'm a little addicted to my 360  ) I had to pack it up and take it with me, and ensure I had a net connection every day! It was effort, but I did have to make it.
Now, if this one was based on just visiting the site, I wouldn't have had to pack my 360, and I could've just used any internet cafe to do a quick login every day!
Maybe, rather than another badge, there could be a different kind of the current streak badge?
I don't know how it would work exactly but if it was possible to have the existing 'played your xbox' streak for people who played and didn't visit/contribute, and a different icon for the badge that was for people who played and visited/contributed? For example, my current playing streak is 76, but there may have been days in there that I just played and didn't visit the site (on Sunday I think). So today, I would have the badge I have now (streak 50+) but when it got to 10days of playing and visiting, I would have a special picture?
I just think awarding a badge for visiting the site isn't really badge-worthy. Most of the other ones you gotta earn in some way.
Any thoughts are welcome, even those who disagree with me!

Damn straight it is, I want more badges and this is one I could keep going. Like you said its easy to loose your streak when holidays interrupt the gaming but as you pointed out all you have to do to keep this streak going is visit the site everyday from any internet access point. |

No, I know it wasn't to remove it, and I wasn't implying that. (Sorry if it sounded that way!)
My thought was to build on the existing streak badge. Like if you played and visited you got a different type of streak badge.
I guess maybe my idea sucked a bit, but I just thought it should be harder to win badges. Though I guess I can't be against it if I'm a candidate for getting it!
