So I know that most have already played. Most already have posted their thoughts. But I wanted to give my 2 cents:
Story:
Believe it or not GoW2 does have a story. Amazing right, this isn't just a multiplayer game. Okay, so the story takes place a few years (?) after GoW. Things have taken a turn for the worse for the humans and we start off at the humans last city Janico. From there craziness pursues and Dom and Markus have kick some butt again. Unlike the first Gears game this one actually has something of a story. Dom is looking for his wife. There is a Rookie that has some backstory. More light is shined on Markus and his Pop. There was some great development within the characters and you really grew to like them. Unfortuntly some of the new characters you don't get to see very often and their isn't a lot of face time for them which was unfortunate because the new characters I really liked and wanted to see more.
Gameplay/Controls:
Well its the same type of gameplay that the original had. Not saying its a bad thing but they did tweek it a little. Some was good some was bad. For example the duck and cover which was a pain at time in GoW is updated and more stremlined here. Now when you want to rodeo run to a cover spot and then jump out (all using the game button) you can. You won't be flying into a wrong spot often. Also glad to say that the level design is much better this go around. We get a bunch of differnt locations to blow heads off from a mountain to a city and everything in between. Also glad to saw there is no Krull this time. THANKFULLY. The vechile portions of the game were great fun this time as the controls were better this go around. Also a majority of the vechile levels are rail shooters. Which is a plus IMO.
Multiplayer is great fun. They added a few new game types which is awesome and will help make the game last longer. The best out of hte bunch is Horde. Its simply amazing. You take wave after wave of locus with each one getting harder. Its a game type that I see playing often.
Now the bad. While the cover system is improved its not perfect. THere were parts were I got killed due to the control taking me one way when I inputed another way. The multiplayer is flawed at times with the nerfing of the shotgun and the over abuse of the lancer. I know that they added things to help prevent lancer kills instantly but it still sucks. Still fun times though. The game times to get a ranked game is taking less time which is great since that was my inital gripe with the game.
Graphics
Greatly improved since the last one. Even though we still get the texture pop it isn't that often. But the game looks stunning. Seriously. Its not the attack of the browns anymore. We have some color and the browns look outstanding.
Achievements
Seriously not as bad as I was expecting. They are all do able and can be done in co-op. Which is a plus. I got 500 and been playing for a week just playing normally. Not trying to go for achievements yet. So the achievements are do able.
Overall. Great game. Fun game. Small Flaws but that won't stop me from coming back for a long time. Even in the onslaught of great games that are coming out this will should be on top and continued to be played until GoW3 comes out or Halo Recon whatever floats your boat.
